Renault Megane E-TECH: Elegance, innovation and zero emissions

Today, we are behind the wheel of a Renault Megane E-TECH for a review. The era of electric cars is gaining more and more traction, and the Renault Megane E-TECH aims to be a key player in this transition. With bold design, refined interiors, and dynamic driving, this vehicle seeks to attract new customers to zero-emission cars.

The Renault Megane E-TECH immediately stands out with a design that does not go unnoticed. The lines are fluid and modern, with details that catch the eye from every angle. The front end, featuring a closed grille and sharp-designed full LED headlights, gives the car a bold and futuristic look, emphasizing its electric identity. On the sides, the profile is clean yet dynamic, with a high beltline and a compact silhouette that exudes energy even when stationary. The retractable door handles for the front doors are another interesting detail.

The alloy wheels, available in 20-inch size on the test model, add a sporty touch, while the bronze details and contrasting roof enhance the sense of sophistication. At the rear, the LED light strip spans the entire width of the vehicle, creating a cohesive and modern appearance. The rear diffuser, though symbolic on an electric car, contributes to emphasizing the sporty character. Overall, the design of the Renault Megane E-TECH combines elegance and dynamism, proving that electric cars don’t have to sacrifice aesthetics for sustainability.

If the exterior catches your attention, the interior wins you over with its comfort and attention to detail. The Renault Megane E-TECH offers a cabin designed for the pleasure of both driver and passengers. The seats, covered in high-quality materials, provide superior comfort. Their ergonomics are excellent, featuring electric adjustments with memory, as well as heating and massage functions. The leather upholstery in our test model enhances the feeling of being inside a true premium car.

The driving position is perfect—slightly elevated for good road visibility, yet low enough to maintain a sporty feel. The steering wheel, with an attractive sporty design, offers excellent adjustment to suit various driving styles and heights. This balance makes driving enjoyable both in the city and on the highway. On the technology front, the Megane E-TECH is equipped with an advanced multimedia system.

The centrally positioned display, large and easy to read, integrates all the main functions: navigation, charging management, smartphone connectivity, and more. The digital instrument cluster is customizable and provides all necessary information clearly and intuitively. One standout feature is the Android-based infotainment system. We have tested this system in other cars before, and we have always appreciated it. The integration of Google Maps into the instrument cluster is excellent, even including charging stops in route calculations to a destination.

The quality of the materials used for the dashboard and door panels is high, with soft-touch finishes that enhance the perceived quality. The interior space is well-organized, with numerous storage compartments and a trunk of adequate size for a family.

On the road, the Renault Megane E-TECH does not disappoint—on the contrary, it is quite fun to drive. The Megane E-TECH is ideal for those seeking a relaxed yet engaging driving experience. Acceleration is smooth but lively enough to make city and suburban driving enjoyable. Overtaking is never a problem, thanks to the excellent response of the electric motor. Handling is one of the Megane E-TECH’s strong points.

Thanks to the 20-inch wheels and low center of gravity, achieved by placing the battery under the floor, the car offers exceptional stability in corners. The suspension absorbs road imperfections well, ensuring a great balance between comfort and dynamism. Typically, large wheels transmit road bumps more easily to the driver, but this is not the case with the Megane E-TECH, which pleasantly surprised us.

In the city, the Megane E-TECH moves nimbly, aided by its compact dimensions and tight turning radius. On the highway, on the other hand, the quiet cabin and overall comfort are highly appreciated. Our test drive primarily took place in urban settings and regional trips, taking advantage of the 60 kWh battery. This seems to be the ideal usage scenario for this car.

Although the Megane E-TECH supports fast DC charging up to 130 kW, waiting times for a charge during a long trip are still slightly longer compared to some competitors. In terms of consumption, during our test, we recorded an average of 18 kWh/100 km in a mix of normal roads and highways.

The Renault Megane E-TECH starts at around €38,000 for the 130 hp EVOLUTION model, while the 220 hp ICONIC trim version we tested starts at approximately €44,000. The Renault Megane E-TECH is an electric car that knows how to stand out. With an eye-catching exterior design, comfortable and technologically advanced interiors, and well-balanced road performance, this vehicle is an excellent choice for those looking for a sustainable means of transport without sacrificing driving pleasure and comfort. The Renault Megane E-TECH successfully combines style, innovation, and practicality in a package that satisfies both the heart and the mind. A car designed for the future, yet ready to excite in the present.
